"Strength. Hope. Courage.
These are the three things that helped me get through the most difficult time of my life..and I am eternally grateful.”
Just over 5 years ago, Patrick Ng was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. If left untreated, he was only a few months from death. How he conquered this unimaginable situation is truly inspiring!
A very long 3 years of dialysis and treatments later, Patrick received the phone call that they had found a match! He was getting a kidney transplant.
Overcome with gratitude and relief after a successful transplant, Patrick couldn’t help but feel an innate need to help the the 4 million Canadians who suffer from this incurable disease. It was with that deep rooted desire to help find a cure that he created a team for the annual Kidney Walk.
Each year Patrick and his team pledge to raise funds for the annual event. While the walk was virtual this year, Patrick surpassed his fundraising goal and collected over $27,000 for the Kidney Foundation of Canada!
The Gratitude Project has been so inspired by Patrick’s donations over the years that in 2020, we leveled up Patrick’s donation by contributing $10,000 in his honour. This year, we were privileged to donate another $5000 to the cause.
Patrick embodies philanthropy and his work extends beyond the Kidney Foundation.
He also sits on the board of Third Space Charity and the KGH Foundation. Due to Patrick's commitment to his community he has been recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals on two separate occasions! Not to mention, he donated a new portable ultrasound device to the hemodialysis unit at KGH! His commitment to giving back to the community is beyond inspiring.
