What started years ago with a group of friends handing out Tim Hortons coupons to strangers in the street has evolved into a movement with a huge ripple effect.

For years, Crystal has been encouraging people to share kindness, but now she has an actionable goal with measurable results. We sat down with her and Richelle from BGC Okanagan (formally known as Okanagan Boys and Girls Club) to learn more about Crystal and her impact on the community.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Crystal Flaman knew that she needed to do something to give back to her community, share kindness and spread positivity here in Kelowna and beyond!

Her idea? 10 million acts of kindness. Crystal is on a mission to get 1 million people to commit to doing 10 acts of kindness for 10 people, resulting in 10 million acts of kindness.

It doesn’t stop there! Each year, Crystal chooses a local charity to support and donates a portion of her proceeds to them. Her charity of choice this year BGC Okanagan because of their commitment to providing a safe space, a place of belonging and positive role models for kids.

The Gratitude Project was so moved by Crystal's commitment to spreading kindness and positivity that they donated $5000 to BGC Okanagan in her honour.

"Now more than ever is the time to be kind. In a world where we can be anything, why not be that."

- Crystal Flaman
