After a long week at work, packing up the car and heading out on the road is one of the best feelings.
If you can relate, we highly suggest you try Revelstoke as your next weekend road trip, as it is SO much more than a winter ski destination.
We spent an action packed weekend in Revelstoke, and highly recommend it. Check it out!
Here are 6 reasons why Revelstoke needs to be on your summer road trip bucket list.
The Aerial Adventure Park is now open at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, and we can assure you, it's fun for all ages! With super safe Click-It harnesses, experience 50 different beginner, intermediate and advanced obstacles with your guided group!
The staff on-site are extremely helpful, and are very encouraging. Especially when you fall off an obstacle, or are too scared to step off the edge of the free-fall platform!
Start yourself off with beginner games one the first level, and work your way up to the highest points on challenging balance obstacles.
We had so much fun trying all of the different games during our 2-hour guided experience, and shared plenty of laughs watching each other struggle with balancing and agility.
Not only are you getting a great workout, but you also have incredible views of the mountain! Go on, give it a try!
We stopped in for breakfast at La Baguette, which ended up being some of the hardest decisions we had to make all weekend. The scrumptious, homemade almond croissant? The fresh baked sesame bagel breakfast sandwich with brie cheese? Hand-pressed ham and egg breakfast panini? All of the above? Needless to say, we were in heaven.
Ever had a poutine at the top of a mountain? The Mackenzie Outpost, located at the top of the upper gondola, makes some of the best burgers we have ever tasted, paired with a good ol' bag-of-fries or poutine.
We finished the day with a delicious meal at the Rockford Grill, offering a variety of meal options with a West Coast twist.
With plenty of BC wines to choose from, you can cheers to the beautiful patio views knowing you're just an elevator ride away from your bed!
Just a short gondola ride to the midpoint, you can experience incredible views of the Monashee mountains. If you're lucky, you will see a mountain biker having the time of their lives on the steep trails below.
Glide over the tree-tops on the upper gondola to reach the hiking trails, wildflower meadows and mountain views.
There are a few viewpoints just a short hike from the gondola where you can see the town of Revelstoke, the Monashee mountain range and the rushing Columbia River below.
Our favourite part was that you can see the glacier peaks of the Monashee Mountains, as we don't see those back home in Kelowna!
If you've made your way up the mountain, what better way to get back down than on the infamous Pipe Mountain Coaster!
Twist and turn your way through the forest and down the mountain on the 1.4km track while travelling up to 43km/h. This will be one of the highlights of your day.
We love ourselves some artisan cheese and decorative soaps. The farmers' market, which is open every Saturday from May through October, pops up in downtown Revelstoke and has something for everyone.
With a variety of artisans set-up down Main Street, the farmers' market is the best way to spend your Saturday morning. Pick up some fresh, local produce, find yourself taste testing homemade honeys and sauces, and leave with handcrafted rings and earrings.
Yes, you can make your own gin. Jones Distilling, located in the old Mountain View Elementary School, is still filled with rich history and offers unique experiences for their guests.
We took part in a tour and tasting, where we were able to try locally made, craft distilled alcoholic spirits all made from BC grown ingredients and distilled in the heart of Revelstoke.
Our guide was incredible, with vast knowledge about the history behind the company and the process of how they distill their product.
Also, the story behind how Jones Distilling started is pretty funny, read about it here!
If you are still in the 'spirit' of continuing on, you can walk over to Monashee Spirits for some of the most creative craft cocktails you'll ever taste. Or if you're looking to switch it up, there is a new brewery in town called the Rumpus Beer Company. Cheers!
We always enjoy our stay at the Revelstoke Mountain Resort, and highly recommend staying there during your weekend visit!
